Getting Here and Accommodation
We have to be honest - its super limited and there aren’t any options we can wholeheartedly recommend . It’s all very basic so don’t expect luxury accommodation. Our property will be open for anyone who wants to stay onsite and have shared some information on other options.
There aren’t any ubers to South Head so we will be providing a shuttle service back to Parakai (Around 25-30 minutes away). We can also arrange support for transport for those renting places in the peninsula too.
We are around 1 hour, 20 minutes from the Auckland Airport and 1 hour from Auckland Central City. The nearest shop (Four Square) is in Parakai (25-30 mins) and petrol station is Helensville (30 minutes). There is a supermarket (Woolworths) in Helensville that is pretty basic but a New World in Kumeu.
Stay Onsite
OPTION ONE: GLAMPING
We have arranged for a Glamping Accommodation provider to set up a temporary Glamping site adjacent to our property and within stumbling distance. We will have shower and bathroom facilities at the site as well.
This is the ‘done for you’ camping set up. There are a range of options, from basic camping to boujee Glamping with a variety of bedding configurations available. This is ideal for those from out of town that want to stay close by, have a cute spot and someone else sets it up for you;. This is the “Layne” option.
Provider Description of Basic
- inside: mattress, fitted sheet, duvet(s), pillow, lighting, door mat
- up to; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 pax.
Provider Description of Boujee Glamping
- inside: includes basic glamping PLUS towel, body wash, chocolate, water, fruit, cowhide, sheepskin, florals, face wipe, ear plugs, eye mask, bin, decorations, lava lamp, lantern, candle
- outside: perimeter lighting (2 lights either side of the door)
- up to; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 pax
Configurations
4m tent or 5m tent
”Queen”, 2 Queens, Queen + 1 single, Queen + 2 Singles, 3 Singles, 4 Singles
If you book a Glamping tent, this will be available from Friday to Sunday. You can arrive at anytime but the pricing will remain the same.
The pricing ranges from:
Basic - $385 (Up to 3 people, 2 nights) to $500 (Up to 6 people, 2 night)
Boujee - $550 (Up to 2 people, 2 nights) $770 (Up to 5 people, 2 nights).

OPTION TWO: BYO CAMPING SET UP
You can bring your own camping set up and also stay at the site available for camping.
We will have shower and bathroom facilities at the site for use and you won’t have to worry about transport. This is ideal for those that can bring their own camping set up and don’t want to pay for the boujee glamping tents. This is the “Jeremy” option.

This is a link to some nearby Air BNB’s but we can’t vouch for the quality. If you stay between our place and Parakai, it will mean you will be on the shuttle route to get home but do make sure that you don’t go further up South Head unless you have a designated driver!
Stay Further Away
Kumeū sits among rolling countryside and vineyards, about 40 minutes from Auckland Airport and 45 minutes from our place. On the day, transport will be arranged to Parakai, and from there it’s just a 15-minute trip that guests will need to arrange themselves.
Auckland is around 20 minutes from the airport and just over an hour from our place. On the day, transport will be available to Parakai, and from there it’s a further 30-minute drive that guests will need to arrange themselves.
